PRINCIPAL ATTORNEY:

Jon Eric Garde, Esq. admitted to New York State Bar in 1992 and to Nevada State Bar in 1996; graduated with a B.A. in Politics & Community Studies in 1983 from the University of California in Sta. Cruz and J.D. in 1992 from the State University of New York in Buffalo; born in Flushing, New York, 1958; speaks Spanish.

Jon Eric Garde's early passion for social activism led him to participate in various community and church outreach, small-group speaking, fundraising, food distribution, and construction of two legal aid centers in service to the Central American Refugee Community within the Los Angeles area, while employed for nine years with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Local 409.

In 1988, along with an ecumenical coalition, he headed to El Salvador to assist displaced war refugees return to their home villages from Honduran refugee camps, supplied food and medication, and provided protection from Salvadoran Armed Forces by mere physical presence. Later as a law student and volunteer for VIVE, an organization for world refugees, he conducted an independent field research in Nicaragua concerning the comparative treatment of refugee children within that country and the United States of America.

After being admitted to the New York State Bar, he decided to practice immigration law and accepted the position of Immigration Program Director for the Lutheran Social Ministry in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Ministry provided pro-bono immigration services to indigent families but when funding for the program ceased, his commitment to his clients' pending cases forced him to go into private practice. Years later, he still gets excited when he talks about the first case of habeas corpus he won which overturned a deportation order of a family and as a result, influenced certain INS enforcement procedures.

Jon Eric Garde continues to strive to provide the best legal representation in behalf of the immigrant community of Southern Nevada, with the same professionalism and commitment as he did his first case. Together with his equally dedicated and competent legal and administrative personnel, he has earned a remarkable rate of success in representing his clients, and an esteemed reputation among peers and in the community.
